Meet Jean Craighead George, August 8, 2011

"Writing is a way to give an animal a voice," says Jean Craighead George, bestselling author of over a hundred children's books. Craighead George is perhaps best known for her Newbery Award—winning young adult novel Julie of the Wolves, which she based on her experience studying wolves at the Arctic Research Laboratory of Barrow, Alaska. The novel has a deep autobiographical element. "I see Julie," the author reveals, "as the girl I would like to be—with no fear and loving [the] outdoors."

In this new original video, Jean Craighead George discusses how she came to write Julie of the Wolves. Rediscover this fabulous author and her beloved children's novel, now available from Open Road Media.
